Everyone is entitled to one free credit report a year and, if you are denied credit, you can get a copy of your credit report. Take advantage of this. Get a copy of each report, look for errors. Humans put in the data, and they make mistakes all the time. Remove credit report errors by following the instructions they provide you. You hear back later on what the final decision will be.

Remove information that has been on longer than the time allowed. Check those time frames online. If the company reporting to Equifax, TransUnion or Experian can't prove its accurate derogatory information, the credit reporting bureau must remove it. Just do your homework. Most providers of free credit scores reports will be about the same.
